Renowned designer Virgil Abloh partnered with Nike to craft a unique wardrobe for Serena Williams, often hailed as a tennis icon, for this year’s US Open. Called 'The Queen Collection,' this line blends on-court and off-court pieces, including a black ballerina-inspired dress, a bomber jacket, and 'Queen of Queens' sneakers.
This collaboration, named The Queen Collection, was developed specifically for Serena Williams to wear during the US Open, which takes place later this month. The lineup features a dress suitable for both daytime and evening matches, a bomber jacket, a bag, the NikeCourt Flare 2, plus limited editions of The 10: Nike Air Max 97 and The 10: Nike Blazer Mid SW.
According to Abloh, the aim is to “blur the lines of sport and fashion.” The standout pieces are the tennis dresses, available in black and purple. With a 'ballerina-esque silhouette,' they reflect Williams' passion for dance, incorporating a tulle skirt that expands from the waist for unrestricted movement.
The fitted top features sleeves of different lengths—one long, one short—and a nude-colored panel that creates an off-shoulder illusion. Crafted from mesh fabric, the dress helps Serena stay cool during New York's summer heat. Extra touches include the word "LOGO" in uppercase above the Nike swoosh, and "SERENA" printed on the sleeves.
The collection also includes off-court clothing for the 23-time Grand Slam champion. Specifically, a black button-down jacket adorned with diagonal stripes on the front and sleeves. Additionally, Serena will have three sneaker options, among them the revamped NikeCourt Flare 2, which she first wore in 2016. Abloh has also customized the Nike Air Max 97 and Nike Blazer Mid SW.
The Nike Serena Williams 'The Queen Collection' will launch in select US stores around August 27th, coinciding with the start of the US Open. Visit the Nike website for additional information.
