Craft a Charming Spring Mantel with a Watering Can

lizmarieblog.com

Welcome to lizmarieblog.com! I'm thrilled to share today's post for several reasons. First, spring decor always fills me with optimism and anticipation. Second, I get to collaborate with wonderful friends, especially Courtney from French Country Cottage, who now has her own floral line with Balsam Hill—how amazing is that? Courtney has been a dear friend for years, and watching her journey unfold has been a joy. I'm honored to be part of it today. She invited a few of us to showcase her new line, and I happily styled several pieces in my home. And the third reason? I decided to suspend a watering can above the mantel, which was a blast! Here's what I created.

I decided to style the garland and wreath on our front mantel—a space I seldom feature on the blog, so it felt like a fresh canvas. I highlighted the MARSEILLE MEADOW FOLIAGE [See more of it HERE] from the new collection. The foliage reminded me of wild greens I might gather from our pasture or garden. I adored their free-spirited look—much like myself, the messy farmgirl who's perpetually disorganized and a bit scattered, just like these stems. I also appreciated how the subtle touches of purple and pink kept the arrangement neutral yet vibrant, perfectly matching our home's vibe. Honestly, they evoked the entrance to a garden from Peter Rabbit or something more romantic like The Secret Garden.

For the mantel, I simply draped the beautiful garland across it. I secured it with small nails at the ends and one in the center—after too many frustrating adjustments, this trick preserves my sanity! To complement the garland, I hung an antique watering can from a wreath hanger by its handle. I tucked a few loose greens into the can and its spout for a cohesive look. That's how simple this DIY is: place an over-the-door wreath hanger over a salvaged piece (or a window) and hang the watering can from it. You could also use string, rope, or other methods. I added a couple more watering cans to the vignette to enhance the spring feel. I think watering cans have become my new favorite seasonal decor item—expect to see many more of them from me! I hope you love it.

I styled the wreath next to my mora clock. I considered hanging it directly on the wall, but instead I placed an antique door behind the clock and hung the wreath on the door. The wreath is huge and stunning—I can't wait to try it in different spots around the house. Can you imagine it on our front door? So lovely! For now, it brightens our front living room, offering glimpses of spring and the warmer weather that's on its way.

I hope this post inspires you to start decorating for spring. Have you begun your spring decor yet?
