Children universally dread injections, and even adults find them unpleasant. Understanding they're necessary for health doesn't reduce the pain of a needle piercing the skin.
A viral clip showing a nurse skillfully performing a finger prick and administering three shots to a courageous young boy has sparked online applause. She employs various clever tactics to help the child navigate the appointment tear-free, ultimately earning a big reward.
The boy's grandmother, Tiffany Shelby Marshall, recorded and posted the video. She was delighted to see her grandson's personality emerge and wanted the nurse to receive deserved recognition. She called it the most hilarious experience with that child and urged people to like and share, praising the nurse as phenomenal.
The child is anxious about the finger prick. The nurse promises a magic trick: "We're going to paint and make circles on this paper. Ready?" She swiftly pricks his finger, collects blood (the magic part), and helps him 'paint' the blood onto the required card boxes. The boy repeatedly exclaims in wonder, "I didn’t cry!"
The nurse has another simple yet brilliant technique. She gives three quick injections, alternating arms. Before each, she asks the boy for a big hug with closed eyes. This prevents struggling and avoids parents needing to restrain him. Though he emits a small yelp before the third shot, he remains in control and tear-free. The commenter wishes this nurse could administer their own flu shot.
Once bandaged, the boy jumps off the table and collects the five dollars his family promised for a tear-free visit. He performs a happy dance, making everyone smile.
Every nurse is a hero, facing unknowns daily with dedication. Vaccinating children isn't the most enjoyable task, but they handle it with patience and kindness, caring for us like family and deserving recognition.
This particular nurse's bedside manner is exceptional. Her methods empower the child and show her genuine love for her work. If she offered private appointments, parents would book her indefinitely.
